Fashion is very much the in thing and has been for some time now. But that certainly has not been the case for all people in every generation. At one time fashion was mainly for the well to do, but certainly it has managed to spread to all in society. It reminds me of that sixties song, I think it was, the dedicated follower of fashion. Even amongst young ones fashion is the in thing. Try to send them off to school with anything but the best of what is trendy and you have a battle on your hands. The trouble with fashion though is it quickly goes out of date, and before you know it your spending more money on what is perceived to be the latest thing. One way around that of course is to go with classic styles, things like the Rolex watch which is timeless and always in fashion. The name is a status symbol with a reputation earned over more than a century. Swiss watch movements have always been recognised and much sought after even before Rolex established itself as a watch maker.
The founders of the Rolex manufacturers made their start in London by simply importing Swiss movements and putting them into watch cases to be sold on to jewellers, who then sold them to customers with their own brand name on the dial. To identify one of these earlier watches you would need to check the back case for the stamp W & D which indicates that Wilsdorf and Davis, the founders of Rolex, actually had a role in the putting together of the piece. There is no doubt that even from those earliest of times that these sophisticated watches had the quality of workmanship that they still boast of today. Naturally, as with every technology things move forward and improvements are made and implemented, and Rolex is no exception in this. This is mainly reflected in the choice available to the consumer with a watch that is both practical and stylish no matter what the occasion.
